Compile (コンパイル), formerly known as Programmers-3, was a video game company founded on April 7, 1982 by Masamitsu Niitani. They built their strong reputation by developing renowned titles and series for the MSX, such as Aleste, Puyo Puyo series (based on their Madou Monogatari franchise), Golvellius, Guardic, Randar and Zanac.

The company gone bankrupt in 2002 and the rights to its franchises were transferred to Aiky. Since then, key staff, including former director Masamitsu Niitani, have moved to Compile Heart, the company's spiritual successor, whereas shoot-'em-up staff moved to MileStone.
